Tribal Conservation District (TCD)

Assists and implements conservation practices needed to improve and protect the natural resources of trust, fee, restricted and individually owned tribal lands within the Choctaw Nation.

Eligibility

  • Services available for trust, fee and restricted properties throughout the Choctaw Nation service area
  • Services through USDA cost-share programs available for individual Choctaw landowners in Bryan, Choctaw, and McCurtain counties

Additional Information

Through partnership with the USDA, the Tribal Conservation District supports tribal efforts to provide for utilization, protection, conservation and restoration of tribal trust, fee, restricted and individually owned tribal lands. Giving the Choctaw Nation a voice to determine what the conservation needs are for the Choctaw tribal jurisdiction and to assist in determining how to address those conservation needs through wise use of the land and natural resources.

Serving tribal landowners in Bryan, Choctaw and McCurtain counties and planning to serve the entire Choctaw Nation service area in the future.

Services

  • Provides equipment and labor for conservation projects, including but not limited to, weed and brush management, grass planting, fence building and erosion control
  • Provides soil analysis testing and technical assistance for soil health and pasture and wildlife management to Choctaw tribal landowners
  • Uses cost share programs, provided through the (USDA) Natural Resource Conservation Services, to assist in paying for the practices that are utilized
