Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program
Eligible seniors in the Choctaw Nation service area can receive $50 in benefits that can be exchanged for fresh fruits and vegetables from authorized area farmers.
Eligibility
- Native
- Must reside within Choctaw Nation service area
- Native Americans at least 55 years of age, verified by a tribal membership card and valid CDIB card
- Non-Native Americans at least 60 years of age residing in a Native American household, ID required
- Disabled persons at least 55 years of age living in elderly housing with congregate nutritional services, proof of SSI
- Income does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty income guidelines
- Provide most recent pay stubs for a 30-day period, current tax returns, current eligibility letter to Indian commodities, or current eligibility letter for SNAP
- Non-Native (Not living in a Native Household)
- Must reside within Choctaw Nation service area
- Non-Native Americans at least 60 years of age; ID required
- Income does not exceed 185% of the federal poverty income guidelines
- Provide most recent pay stubs for a 30-day period, current tax returns, or current eligibility letter for SNAP
How to Apply
Applications are available via download or at Choctaw Nation Community Centers starting Feb. 1 of every year. Application can be mailed in or emailed. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 30 or until funding is depleted.
Additional Information
A program for low-income seniors funded by the USDA in partnership with the Choctaw Nation Health Service Program. The program serves eligible seniors in the Choctaw Nation service area with $50 in benefits that can be exchanged for fresh fruits and vegetables from authorized area farmers during the months of May through October. The Non-Native SFMNP is funded by an ARPA grant and administered through the Choctaw Nation. The Choctaw Nation does not fund the Non-Native SFMNP.
