Dental Services

Provides annual exams, extractions, amalgam fillings, composite fillings, non-permanent stainless-steel crowns and hygiene services.

Eligibility

  • Must reside within the Choctaw Nation service area for any referral services
  • CDIB, letter of descendancy, or tribal membership card from a federally recognized tribe (living anywhere for adults needing routine in-clinic care)
  • Pediatric care for those under 8 years old must be Choctaw tribal members living in the Choctaw Nation service area

Additional Information

A preventative program offering dental screenings for diabetic patients is available at the Diabetic Wellness Center at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina. A preventative program is also available for children during their well child visits in the Pediatric Clinic at the Choctaw Nation Health Care Center in Talihina, which provides education and fluoride varnish. A Pediatric Dentist is available (by referral only) at the Durant Regional Medical Clinic. An Endodontist is available (by referral only) at the Durant Regional Medical Clinic.

Update to Emergency Dental Services Policies:

Beginning January 1, 2024, the following will be in effect.

Dental emergencies are potentially life threatening and require immediate treatment to stop ongoing tissue bleeding, alleviate severe pain or infection, and include:
Uncontrolled bleeding – bleeding that fills up a coffee cup or more
Severe, visible swelling – swelling that causes difficulty breathing and limits opening of the mouth
Trauma to face or mouth – injury causing loose/missing teeth or airway blockage

To be seen for same-day emergency dental services, please arrive during the following times.
7:00 AM – 7:30 AM | Poteau & Talihina
7:30 AM – 8:00 AM | Durant, Idabel, McAlester & Stigler
7:45 AM – 8:15 AM | Hugo
