Classroom Training Services

Providing training opportunities to prepare, support and empower Native Americans for success.

Eligibility

  • Must be a member of a federally recognized tribe
  • Must reside within Choctaw Nation service area
  • Copy of CDIB or tribal membership card
  • Copy of address verification (gas bill, water bill, electric bill, or lease)
  • Signed Employment Development Plan
  • Selective Service – Males 18 years and older
  • Must be:
    • unemployed,
    • underemployed,
    • upgrading skills for career advancement or
    • seeking retraining of skills to obtain employment.

How to Apply

Apply in the Chahta Achvffa member portal. Application Deadlines:

  • Fall Semester (Aug. - Dec.): Sept. 15
  • Spring Semester (Jan. - May): Feb. 15
  • Summer Semester (June - July): June 15

Additional Information

These services are particularly designed for those who have barriers to employment. Time in the program is limited in accordance with the guidelines.

Public Law 102-477 is the Indian Employment, Trainingand Related Services Demonstration Act of 1992, as amended by Public Law 106-568, the Omnibus Indian Advancement Act of 2000. Public Law 102-477 is unique among  federal legislation, in that it allows federally recognized tribes and Alaska Native entites to combine formula-funded  federal grants funds, which are employment and training-related, into a single plan with a single budget and a single reporting system.
