Environmental Protection Service Collecting House Hazardous Waste on the Reservation

DURANT, Okla. – The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) Environmental Protection Service will be holding the following household hazardous waste collection events in the reservation. The events are free and open to the public.

Sept. 12 – Atoka Community Building – 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Sept. 26 – Wilburton Gary Rosebure Recreational Park – 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Nov. 16 – Durant Choctaw Nation Event Center – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items that will be accepted for recycling at the event include:

  • Ammunition
  • Auto batteries
  • Electronics
  • Fluorescent lamps
  • Gasoline
  • Household batteries
  • Motor oil
  • Other household chemicals
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Pool chemicals
  • Solvents
  • Thermostats
  • Tires (no rims)
  • Unused medications
