Choctaw Nation Celebrates Voter Registration and Voter Education Week

DURANT, Okla. – In 2022, Chief Gary Batton signed the Voter Registration and Voter Education Proclamation encouraging the Choctaw people “to return their thoughts regularly to increasing the political power of the sovereign Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma within the American federal framework by encouraging educated Choctaw and Choctaw-aligned voter participation in local, State, and Federal elections.

The Choctaw Nation will have booths set up on Oct. 7 at the Durant headquarters to help people register for federal, state, and tribal elections. Check out the important dates below to honor your rights as a Choctaw and a U.S. citizen!

Federal Elections

This election season, take advantage of your right to vote as both a Choctaw and US citizen by voting in the 2025 Presidential election. To determine if you are registered to vote and learn how to vote in the upcoming election, visit I Will Vote.

Important voting dates and deadlines

Texas
  • Mail-in ballot application deadline is Oct. 25.
  • Early voting begins on Oct. 21 and ends Nov. 1. Visit the Texas Secretary of State website to find your early voting location. The general election is Nov. 5.
  • To check Texas voter registration or other voting information, visit votetexas.org.
Oklahoma
  • Last day to register is Oct. 11.
  • Mail-in ballot application deadline must be received no later than 5 p.m. on the third Monday (15 days) before the election.
  • Vote early in county elections at designated early voting locations from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2. Visit the Oklahoma Elections website to find early voting location.
  • To check Oklahoma voter registration or other voting information, see the Oklahoma State Election Board website.
Arkansas

Tribal Elections

Choctaw tribal elections will be held in July 2025 and will include elections for Council District 4, Council District 6, Council District 7, Council District 9, Council District 10, and Council District 12.
