Warmer weather, school is out, and thoughts turn to ‘What are we going to do as a family for some fun this summer?’

Many families look all over for a fun place to make memories for their summer entertainment. Why not also look at what we have to offer right here in the Choctaw Nation and in Oklahoma? We have a large festival, outdoor activities, lakes, streams, wildlife, entertainment, and a host of other activities to keep your family happy and occupied for summer fun.

The biggest event of the summer here at the Choctaw Nation is the Annual Labor Day Festival in Tuskahoma. Every year the Labor Day Festival gets bigger and better with added attractions and more summer fun for the entire family. The festival gives us an opportunity to fellowship, share stories and come together as a tribe. This is a free event and will give you a fun, relaxing day of recreation that is affordable.

There is a lot packed into this year’s three-day festival from Sept. 1 -3. There will be arts and crafts, a carnival, all kinds of food and vendors, sporting events, live entertainment and much more. As always, the festival is free on the Tuskahoma Capitol Grounds. Check out a few of the festival’s scheduled events below or go to laborday.choctawnation.com for a full schedule, registration, event dates and times, and RV parking registration.

Choctaw Nation also has a lot to offer if you like hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, relaxing or any recreational activity. Spending time with family while enjoying the great outdoors or the great indoors with everything from resorts to a cabin in the woods – it is worth considering Choctaw Nation for your getaway destination.

I also want to highlight the Choctaw Nation Pathfinder magazine spotlights everything from coffee shops to live entertainment and can be found at choctawcountry.com. The publication is a comprehensive list of events and attractions within the Choctaw Nation.

As always, there are many fun things to do for the whole family at the Choctaw Nation’s casinos, so check out choctawcasinos.com for more details. We have a full schedule of live entertainment, movies, arcades, water parks and bowling at the Idabel and Durant casinos for families to enjoy this summer.

Travel Oklahoma updates its website each year for summer entertainment to find 50 Ways To Celebrate Summer in Oklahoma. The website features summer recreation and relaxation items from across the state, so you don’t even have to leave home to find something new. Regardless of your taste for summer entertainment there is something to do across the Choctaw Nation reservation in southeastern Oklahoma, so get out there and enjoy your summer!

Be safe and have fun!
