The Choctaw Nation Youth Events & Activities Department (YEA) held its Tech IKBI Camp on March 14 and 15. The camp took place at four locations, including Durant, Poteau, Broken Bow and Antlers. According to Dena Rymal, who taught the Durant camp, the camp’s purpose is to explore technology.

“We are exposing students to different types of technology. The purpose of these camps is to hopefully show them things they’ve never seen before. It doesn’t matter what your career path is; technology is going to touch it,” she said.

Javen White is the director of the youth camps. White said she was excited to be back to in-person camps this year, although the virtual camps reached even more students. She said they hope to offer a virtual option again in the future.

YEA provides a wide variety of activities, hosting over 40 events for Choctaw youth every year. From athletic clinics and STEAM camps to field trips. Learn more about Choctaw Nation Youth Events & Activities and see upcoming events.
