Choctaw Nation Promotes Haggerty to Tribal Prosecutor
Published May 21, 2024DURANT, Okla. – The Choctaw Nation has announced the appointment of Mike Haggerty to tribal prosecutor, effective today. In his role he will lead the prosecution team within the Choctaw Nation Judicial system.
Since 2022, Haggerty has served as the Chief of the Criminal Division of the Choctaw Nation Tribal Prosecutor’s office. Haggerty also has more than 25 years of legal experience in private practice in Durant, OK.
During his time in private practice, Haggerty served as a member of the board of directors, treasurer, and president of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

Haggerty, a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, was born and raised in the Caddo area where his Choctaw ancestors had settled after the Trail of Tears. Haggerty attended the University of Oklahoma as a National Merit Scholar, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993 and his Juris Doctorate in 1996.
