In addition, it allows Choctaw Nation to provide partial reimbursement of registration and renewal fees. The registration, title and license plates are all completed at the state level through the tag agencies. The Choctaw Nation Car Tag Department confirms tribal member eligibility and submits reimbursements. Questions related to registration or titles should be directed to the tag agency.

If you have a Choctaw license plate and wish to transfer it to a new vehicle, notify the dealership to include this detail on the paperwork for the tag agency. Alternatively, request direct contact information for the tag agency processing it. If you don’t possess a Choctaw license plate, ensure the dealership acknowledges this on the paperwork and that your legal name, matching tribal membership, is listed on the title.

Provide the dealership with a copy of tribal membership card, including your CN#, for submission to the tag agency. During CNO business hours, tribal membership verification can be obtained from the Tribal Membership Department by calling 800-522-6170 or via Chahta Achvffa account.

If the dealership has already submitted your details to the tag agency, contact the dealership’s tag agency and provide your tribal membership card.

Per our compact with the State of Oklahoma, Choctaw license plates are for vehicles owned or co-owned by tribal members of Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Per the compact with the State of Oklahoma, the tribal member must be listed on the Oklahoma vehicle title as owner or co-owner of vehicle to be eligible. With leased vehicles, the financial institution is the vehicle owner. Therefore, leased vehicles are not eligible for a Choctaw license plate and reimbursement.

You can transfer your Oklahoma license plate to a Choctaw license plate at the tag agency within the same month or within 30 days with purchase of Choctaw license plate. Once that is done, please send the original registration receipt showing the fees and taxes paid and the receipt indicating the transfer to a Choctaw license plate to [email protected]. The department will work with the state to process a reimbursement.

Tribal members who are either currently serving or retired from the armed forces are eligible for a Choctaw Veteran license plate. When registering or renewing a vehicle, request a Choctaw Veteran license plate at the tag agency and provide a copy of the DD214. Normal registration fees will apply along with a small fee to mail the license plate.
