Washington, DC – Choctaw Nation Regional Economic Development Partnership won a Gold Rank for its 2019/20 Community Profile, a project in the category of Print Brochure of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The honor was presented at an awards ceremony during the IEDC Annual Conference on October 5.

“Our economic development and marketing team strive to create the best marketing materials that they can,” said Tammye Gwin, Senior Executive Officer of Choctaw Nation Division of Strategic Development. “It is an honor for IEDC and our professional peers across the country to recognize our efforts. Our community partners struggle financially to compete for national projects and marketing collateral like the Profile and GrowChoctaw.com website help to level the field.”

IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders. 25 award categories honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities. Awards are judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers, following a nomination process held earlier this year. IEDC received over 500 submissions from 4 countries.

The 2019/20 Community Profile elevates the public image of the regional economy and local communities. Private subscription data supplements public data to create easily understood custom graphs. At no cost to local communities, economic development partners can showcase their community in the best possible light.

Several economic development organizations across the U.S. have requested copies of the Community Profile to model their documents after. The regional marketing efforts are starting to generate direct contacts from site consultants and business investors.

The 2019/2020 Community Profile celebrates the accomplishments of the community partners. This is the third award winning document printed for the purpose of marketing the region to internal and external audiences. As the country becomes more culturally responsive and racially conscience, the document attempted to showcase the diversity within the region. The unique cultural aspects of the reservation are interwoven into the business document.

“The winners of IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development awards represent the best of economic development and exemplify the leadership that our profession strives for every day,” said 2021 IEDC Board Chair and Invest Buffalo Niagara, President, and CEO Tom Kucharski. “We’re honored to recognize the more than 100 communities whose marketing submissions, projects, and partnerships have improved regional quality of life.”
